Bovet Teams Up with Ethos Watches to Launch the New Orbis Mundi India Edition

When we cross different time zones during a business or a leisure trip, we usually need to manually adjust the time on our watches. Multiple time zones can make it an onerous task. Luxury watchmaker Bovet has a solution to this. The brand has just launched the new Orbis Mundi India Edition, in collaboration with Indian retailer Ethos Watches. The world timer has been crafted keeping  in mind the needs of modern Indian travellers.

A world timer is slightly different from a GMT, which shows only one time zone; a world timer can display 24 time zones at once. Over the years, many prominent watchmakers have created their own variations of the world timer complication. In fact, the world timer is one of the most intricate complications — as complicated as a perpetual calendar. The dial is mostly minimalistic for a world timer in order to make the wearer read time clearly.

The Bovet Orbis Mundi India Edition watch comes in a 42 mm 18 ct red gold signature Fleurier case with the iconic sapphire-cabochon-topped crown at 12 o’clock. The watch has a blue dial, enriched by the guilloche work. At 3 o’clock, the watch gets a power reserve indicator with just one barrel and a balance wheel with its three-arm revolving seconds hand. A 20-second semi-circular indicator can be seen at 6 o’clock. While most of the specifications of the India Edition are identical to those in other models of the Bovet Orbis Mundi collection, the newly launched watch has ‘New Delhi’ added to the dial to mark the Indian time zone and account for the +/- 0.5-hour difference.

The watch gets an off-centred display, showing all 24 time zones with leaf-shaped hour and minute hands. Powering the watch is the manual winding Calibre 15BM01HU with seven days of power reserve. Turning the watch over showcases the exhibition caseback, secured by six screws. The mechanism is polished, angled, and embellished, like other Bovet movements, honouring the legacy of the Maison. Finishing the watch, with 30-metre water resistance, is a full-skin alligator strap with an 18 ct red gold titanium buckle. As far as the collaboration is concerned, Bovet entered into an exclusive partnership for India with Ethos Limited in 2022.
