Fundamentals of Fusion: Hublot Launches the Limited-Edition Big Bang Unico Full Magic Gold Watch

Known for its audacious designs and cutting-edge watch technologies, Hublot has once again proved its mettle in the world of haute horology with the new 200-piece limited-edition Big Bang Unico Full Magic Gold (Ref. 421.MX.1130.RX) timepiece. It is a unique symphony bringing together the timepiece maker’s signature Unico movement and the Magic Gold alloy. Through this new novelty, Hublot has returned to basics by creating a powerful, yet a disruptive timepiece.

Hublot is celebrating a significant milestone as its iconic timepiece, the Big Bang, turns eighteen this year. The Big Bang has not only created its own distinctive style, spirit, and technical achievements but has also fostered a dedicated community of watch enthusiasts and collectors.

The announcement of the new collection follows the recent launch of the environment-friendly Big Bang Nespresso Origin,  a green watch made from seven different materials. A specific shade used for Nespresso’s ‘Master Origins Peru Organic’ coffee capsule was utilised. The material used for the Hublot Big Bang Unico Full Magic Gold watch is, basically, a fusion of 24 ct gold and ceramic. The 44 mm Magic Gold case watch gets the ‘sandwich' construction, large pushers, a bezel with six visible, unaligned and functional titanium screws, guards for its two titanium chronograph pushers, and a skeleton dial.

Hublot elevates the Big Bang to a new level, epitomizing strength, brilliance, and innovation. Magic Gold, an exclusive alloy developed by Hublot, takes center stage in this limited edition of 200 pieces.

The matte black skeleton dial features Arabic numerals for the hour markers; the skeleton Big Bang sword-shaped hour and minute hands are satin-finished and micro-blasted in Magic Gold. There is a seconds counter at 9 o’clock, an hours counter with an in-built date window at 3 o’clock, and a 60-minute track on the outer periphery. The central chronograph second hand is also in Magic Gold and has an oblong tip while the Hublot logo sits at 12 o’clock.

The titanium pushers, guards, screws, and rubber strap complete the ensemble in a deep black tone.

Powering the new Hublot Big Bang Unico watch is the same movement as that found in the Nespresso model. It’s an in-house, self-winding Calibre HUB1280 UNICO 2 movement with 72 hours of power reserve. This movement is much thinner in comparison to its predecessor, UNICO 1, even though both are part of the same Calibre HUB1280 family.

The timepiece maintains the open-worked design and iconic “H” for Hublot

Turning the watch over showcases the skeleton caseback made of black ceramic with a black-plated oscillating weight. Thanks to a brand new clutch, the chronograph does not jump at the start. The watch is certainly a quintessential Big Bang timepiece as it has maintained the signature features that are feted worldwide. Finishing the watch is a black structured lined rubber strap with a black ceramic and black-plated titanium deployant buckle.
