The New Spirit of Big Bang Watch from Hublot Celebrates the Majesty of Grey

In the realm of horology, it is rare to see the colour grey headlining the launch of a timepiece. For some, grey as a colour might seem old school, like a classic Negroni or a Sazerac. But, let’s admit it, grey has its own indubitable charm. It also seems to suggest a balance between two extremes. To celebrate the majesty of grey, Hublot has unveiled the new Spirit of Big Bang (Ref. 642.NX.0110.NR.HEC23) as a 100-piece limited-edition timepiece. Needless to say, the latest watch is grey in colour. Often considered one of the most unforgettable series from the timepiece maker, the Big Bang Unico collection comes with a monochromatic colour tone on all sides. This colour scheme accentuates the level of detail, no matter which angle one looks from.

The new chic, technical and exclusive Big Bang Unico Essential Grey is a stunning cocktail designed by Hublot!

From every perspective, grey is a very mature colour as it avoids any unwanted attention. Every component of the new 42 mm titanium-cased, barrel-shaped watch is grey — take the case, the bezel with six screws, the lugs, the skeleton Unico movement, the hour markers, the seconds subdial at 9 o'clock, the 30-minute subdial at 3 o’clock, the central chronograph hands, the sword-shaped, rhodium-plated hour, minute hands, the date wheel that is navigating the dial, the titanium crown at 3 o’clock and the two titanium chronograph pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock that start and restart the function. What’s more, the new Hublot Spirit of Big Bang watch has a date window with a black background and a white numeral at 4:30.

Thanks to its perfectly monochrome and satin-finished look, the new Big Bang Unico Essential Grey magnifies the unmistakable design of the original model.

The watch is powered by Hublot’s in-house self-winding Calibre HUB4700 movement, delivering 50 hours of power reserve and 5Hz frequency. Turning the watch over showcases the sapphire skeleton caseback in full grey colour tone — from the titanium oscillating weight to the six visible screws. The watch comes on a black and silver lined rubber strap, a grey fabric with a Velcro strap, sporting a black ceramic buckle.

The iconic case, whose satin finish extends to the bezel, hands and dial, is enveloped in titanium.

There is a One-Click system that allows the wearer to change straps/bracelets in a fraction of a second, without any tool. As with certain Hublot models that are sold online, the new watch comes with ‘full Hublot service’. It is activated as soon as the transaction is completed and the watch registered with Hublot, and entitles the wearers to have their watches fully serviced free of charge once the warranty expires.
