Tissot Reveals a Special Le Locle Edition to Mark the Model’s 20th Anniversary

Swiss watchmaker Tissot has unveiled a special Le Locle 20th Edition — Le Locle Powermatic 80 (for men) and 48 (for women) — which marks the 20th anniversary of the coveted model. The collection itself was born as a tribute to the brand’s roots and storied history, encapsulating the spirit of innovation that drives Tissot forward.

Tissot's latest Le Locle 20th Edition marks the 20th anniversary of the coveted model.

The Tissot Le Locle 20th Edition

The brand’s birthplace Le Locle — nestled in the heart of the mountains close to Neuchâtel — has been a welcoming place for watchmakers since the late 17th century. In the beginning, watchmakers of Le Locle used to produce large church clocks or domestic clocks, followed by creation of refined pocket watches and fob watches. The town was already a hub for watchmakers’ workshops when, in 1853, the Tissot family set up its own assembly shop, which quickly grew into a flourishing factory.

The Tissot Le Locle collection has been a testament to the brand’s rich heritage for 20 years.

To celebrate the roots of the brand, Tissot launched the “Le Locle” model 150 years later, in 2003. These were classic automatic watches featuring a dial design inspired by the clean lines of the church belfry — the emblem of the town that was once home to the first watchmakers. By proudly displaying the name of the town where the company was founded in italic letters, this wristwatch pays tribute to tradition. For 20 years now, the enduring success of the Tissot Le Locle has been a testament to the brand’s rich heritage.

The Tissot Le Locle 20th Edition runs on Powermatic 48 for the women’s model.

Modernity Meets Tradition

A perfect blend of modernity and tradition, the Tissot Le Locle 20th Edition’s design draws inspiration from the Le Locle Church clock face. Gracing the Clous de Paris patterned silver dial are Roman blue indices and leaf blue hands, lending the Edition a traditional yet contemporary appeal. The women’s watches in the Edition come bedecked with eight dazzling diamonds.

The Tissot Le Locle 20th Edition offers two bracelet options – one in stainless steel and the other in leather.

The Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 and 48 watches feature 316L stainless steel cases and scratch-resistant sapphire crystals. By turning each watch over, wearers can view the beating heart of the timepiece — the Powermatic 80 movement for the men’s model and Powermatic 48 for the women’s one. The movements offer strong power reserves of 80 and 48 hours respectively. Tissot’s Nivachron™️ balance spring that stands resilient against magnetic fields and shocks makes each watch truly robust.

Furthermore, the Tissot Le Locle 20th Edition offers two bracelet options – one in stainless steel and the other in leather – making each timepiece versatile and adaptable. A butterfly clasp with push buttons ensures comfort and the interchangeable style allows for easy transitions between formal and casual events.
