Czapek & Cie Dazzles Watch Lovers with Promenade and Antarctique Variants at W&W 2024

Just ahead of Watches and Wonders 2024, Czapek & Cie, an independent watchmaker, teased with a pre-release of the Antarctique Mount Erebus, the first gold edition of its successful luxury sports watch. The inventive brand has more in store for watch enthusiasts — two intriguing new variants of the Antarctique and, more crucially, a new collection called Promenade.

PROMENADE COLLECTION

The new series in stainless steel has a versatile 38 mm diameter and incorporates design elements from the Quai des Bergues, such as the recessed sandblasted case profile, distinctive crown protection, and narrow rounded bezel. The first timepiece is Goutte d’eau’, limited to 100 pieces. It has a small second hand at 4:30 while the dial gives an optical illusion of ripples that are created when a raindrop falls on the still surface of a pond. This timepiece has been created in collaboration with enamel dial specialist Donzé Cadran. The watch is finished on a Nubuck leather strap in dark blue, with optional straps in grey or beige. A Milanese mesh bracelet in stainless steel is also available.

Next in the collection are the Guilloché Bleu Nuit and the Guilloché Ivoire, available, as the names suggest, either in night blue or ivory colours. The Guilloché Soleil dial is crafted in collaboration with Metalem. It features a modern guilloché geometric pattern, reminiscent of sun rays, emanating from the small seconds at 4:30. Each watch is finished on a Nubuck leather strap in dark blue or beige. There is a Milanese mesh bracelet as well.

ANTARCTIQUE GREEN METEOR

The Antarctique Green Meteor is a limited edition of 100 pieces. The Gibeon iron meteorite dial looks resplendent in an uncommon green colour, with Widmanstätten patterns and green polished lacquer. Housed in a 40.5 mm stainless steel case, the watch gets a crown at 3 o’clock with crown guards and a polished bezel. The watch is finished on a Czapek stainless steel bracelet, with additional calf leather or rubber straps.

ANTARCTIQUE AFTERGLOW PURPLE

Use of purple in timepieces is quite intriguing! Purple is generally associated with wealth and even mystery. A purple dial can make a watch face stand out and emphasise the watch's quality. This may range from mild lavender to dark, rich purple. This new Antarctique purple timepiece gets a 40.5 mm stainless steel case, a crown, and a polished steel bezel. The stamped flinqué dial gets a ‘Stairway to Eternity’ pattern, with the purple shade achieved with PVD treatment. Luminescent steel sword hands adorn the dial. The watch is finished on a Czapek stainless steel bracelet with additional calf leather or rubber straps.

All watches unveiled by Czapek at Watches and Wonders 2024, being held in Geneva, are powered by Calibre SXH5, a self-winding movement delivering 60 hours of power reserve on a single barrel; winding is done via micro-rotor.
