Czapek & Cie. Introduces Limited Edition Antarctique for Watch Collectors India

Often considered by many as one of the rarest gems, cut cuprites can show magnificent deep red colour. However, these beautiful stones are too fragile for most jewellery uses. Dark crystals with red internal reflections have given them the nickname of ‘Red Copper’. On the other hand, watch collector groups in the Indian subcontinent have gained a lot of prominence over the years and it has become imperative for timepiece makers to collaborate with these passionate groups to create something more exclusive. This time, Czapek & Cie. has partnered with its official retailer, India Ethos Watches, to create a special edition of its sports-chic model, Antarctique, for Watch Collectors India.

Founded by François Czapek in Geneva in 1845, the brand was revived in 2011 by Xavier de Roquemaurel, a luxury marketing consultant and watch lover, Harry Guhl, an art expert, and Sébastien Follonier, a watchmaker, to create the first model - Czapek Chronograph.

The Antarctique was first launched in 2020 and was Czapek’s take on a sports watch with an integrated stainless-steel bracelet. The three-hand watch had a date window at 6 o’clock and came on a 40.5-mm case. However, the 11-piece, Watch Collectors India-specific edition comes with the same stainless steel, 40.5-mm case with a red cuprita roja dial.

The watch is powered by Calibre SXH5 with a power reserve of minimum 56 and maximum 70 hours.

The Antarctique WCI Edition - Cuprita Roja doesn’t have the traditional hour markers or date window. The dial gets a chapter ring for minutes and hours, sword-shaped and steel hour and minute hands and luminescence. The screwed-down crown at 3 o’clock features an engraving of ‘1845’ with a ‘C’ link design bracelet.

Turning the watch reveals the skeleton caseback with the engraving of ‘Antarctique’, ‘1 out of 11’, ‘Cuprita Roja’ and an off-centred micro-rotor crafted in platinum. The watch is powered by Calibre SXH5 with a power reserve of minimum 56 and maximum 70 hours.

The WCI edition comes with complimentary straps and an Easy Release system. In addition to the default steel bracelet, there are three leather straps—in burgundy, black and blue—and an additional one in black rubber. The watch has a water resistance of 120 m.
