Delhi Watch Company: Redefining Luxury for the Indian Wrist

As the world learns to cherish small luxuries, true refinement lies in embracing value with intent. Nowhere is that sentiment more timeless than on one’s wrist. At Delhi Watch Company (DWC), this very idea drives each tick and turn of their journey.

“India is a very price-sensitive market,” says founder Anish Dandwani, reflecting on the brand’s roots. “As a consumer myself, I always look for what offers the best value for money. And that search has become our number one motto at DWC.” This endeavour to make craftsmanship accessible had led to the creation of one of India’s most distinctive microbrands, one that blends heritage aesthetics with everyday reliability.

From Indian Hands, For Indian Values

DWC’s watches emerged from a clear understanding of India’s evolving yet pragmatic buyer. While enthusiasts admired global icons like Seiko or dabbled in inexpensive modded pieces, few found a brand that matched Indian sensibilities — value-driven, durable, and beautifully designed. “I saw people importing watches through friends in Japan or taking risks with unbranded Chinese models,” says Dandwani. “There was clearly a demand for something fresh, affordable, and genuinely made for us.”

Recognising this shift, DWC set out to craft timepieces that elevate everyday wear, where timekeeping becomes an experience both accessible and aspirational. Perhaps one of the best specimens that captures this ethos is the Heritage Collection, which is a line that captures India’s artistic roots while meeting modern standards of precision.

DWC Heritage

The DWC Heritage White Enamel Dial is a fitting tribute to the golden age of mechanical watchmaking, reinterpreted for the modern wrist. Housed in a 37.5mm 316L stainless steel case, it achieves the perfect equilibrium between classical proportion and everyday wearability. The sapphire crystal, renowned for its superior clarity and scratch resistance, safeguards the immaculate white enamel dial, allowing light to dance across its refined surface. At 11.5mm in height, the watch sits elegantly on the wrist, exuding a sense of confidence.

Turn it over, and the exhibition caseback offers a window into the heart of the timepiece: the Miyota 8215 automatic movement. Known for its reliability and smooth performance, this Japanese caliber underscores DWC’s commitment to dependable mechanics paired with timeless design.

The watch is paired with a genuine leather strap, accented by a 20mm lug width and 44mm lug-to-lug span, ensuring a comfortable fit and a refined silhouette. With a 10 ATM water resistance, it’s built not just for admiration but for the rhythm of daily life. Each detail of the Heritage White Enamel Dial reflects DWC’s philosophy: to craft watches that reimagine timekeeping as both absorbable and aspirational.

Learning by Doing: A Public Evolution

Back in 2022, when DWC launched its mission, the path wasn’t smooth. “It was a steep learning curve,” Dandwani recalls. “The watchmaking industry is deeply traditional — most factories don’t even have websites or contact numbers.”

In its early days, DWC worked with entry-level components like chrome-plated cases and Miyota 2035 movements to test market sentiment. “We were learning in public,” he says. “Our customers gave us honest feedback: about straps, finishes, everything. That dialogue shaped our evolution.”

Five years in, the brand continues to refine its craft with humility and transparency. “There’s no watch company that hasn’t stumbled in its early years,” Dandwani smiles. “The key is to learn, listen, and keep improving.”

The Craft Behind the Case

Behind DWC’s growing reputation stands a team of skilled hands and sharp eyes. Among them is Sarfaraz, a 62-year-old master watchmaker with over 35 years of experience. “He’s worked on watches we can only dream of,” says Dandwani. “Every technical decision, from choosing between NH35 and Miyota 8215 movements to case finishing, passes through his expertise.”

DWC now partners with one of India’s largest watch assembly facilities in Rajkot, Gujarat — an industrial powerhouse that also handles contracts for Titan and Timex. “We’re proud to be the only Indian microbrand working with them,” says Dandwani. “It’s a partnership rooted in mutual belief,” he adds.

An Indian brand with a global mindset, Delhi Watch Company represents more than affordable luxury, it stands as a symbol of India’s growing voice in the global watch conversation. For India’s new generation of collectors and enthusiasts, DWC offers a rare blend of authenticity without extravagance. As Dandwani sums it up, “Our journey is about giving India a watch that feels made for its people — beautiful, functional, and worth every second.”
