Geneva Watch Days Hosts a Special Preview in Zurich

Making its debut across the Sarine, Geneva Watch Days organised a pre-launch event for the iconic end-of-summer Geneva show. The highly anticipated event is set to start on August 29 and continue till September 2; it will bring together watch lovers from all across the world to celebrate horology at its finest.

Geneva Watch Days organised a pre-launch event in Zurich

The special evening in Zurich, hosted at Aura on the banks of the Limmat and supported by 31 participating brands, was attended by 520 people. It was an opportunity for mediapersons, retailers, and watch enthusiasts to discover the watchmaking highlights of 31 out of the 54 brands that will be present in Geneva; engage in insightful conversations with brand CEOs and teams; and participate in watchmaking workshops organised by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH). The event also disclosed the names of the 54 brands participating in the Geneva show.

The preview in Zurich was supported 31 participating brands.

When Geneva Watch Days made its debut in 2020, it had only 10 participating brands. Born of a temporary need for a gathering during the pandemic, the watch fair has now evolved into a revered institution. As Geneva Watch Days seeks to expand its foothold across all of Switzerland, this pre-launch in Zurich was a starting point. “While Geneva is one of the birthplaces of Swiss watchmaking, all of Switzerland supports us, so it was essential to include Zurich in our project to make it truly national,” said Antoine Pin, President of the Geneva Watch Days Association and Director of Bvlgari Watches. “Many of our retailers and a large number of our customers are here. It made perfect sense to include them in our plan,”

The event was also the first of its kind in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling, shared, “Breitling, as a founding brand of Geneva Watch Days, supports the initiative to move the show to German-speaking Switzerland for a day to give it more visibility.” He went on to add, “This way, we provide a platform for the smaller Geneva Watch Day brands, which otherwise have no presence here. Having so many representatives of the watch industry gathered in Zurich was a first.”

“Being based in German-speaking Switzerland, and with the support of the other brands present tonight, H. Moser & Cie. initiated this wonderful project to bring Geneva Watch Days across the Sarine,” stressed Edouard Meylan, CEO of H. Moser & Cie. “From the Limmat to the Léman, it is just a short hop.” We can’t agree more.
