Jaeger-LeCoultre’s The Precision Pioneer Exhibition in Dubai Dives Deep into the Art of Watchmaking

After showcasing its novelties at Watches and Wonders Geneva this year, Jaeger-LeCoultre has returned to Dubai with its much admired The Precision Pioneer exhibition, which offers a deep dive into the art and history of watchmaking. In fact, The Precision Pioneer display has embarked on a global tour. And the first stop is Dubai, often considered synonymous with all things luxe. Watch enthusiasts can see this showcase, which commenced on May 7, at The Space in DIFC’s ICD Brookfield Place till May 19. It will remain open to visitors from 11 am to 10 pm on weekdays and from 10 am to 10 pm on weekends.

The Precision Pioneer display by Jaeger-LeCoultre features more than just fine watches. Attendees can learn about the timepiece industry through seminars, workshops, and in-person exhibits. The four main themes that are being covered are: The Precision of Chronometry, The Precision of Production and Decoration, The Precision of Regulating Organs, and The Precision of Complications.

In addition to examining workmanship and mechanical complexity, the exhibition also explores the worlds of art and food. On display is Roy Wang's The Dragon, an illuminated artwork that combines Chinese traditions with contemporary artistry. Visitors can also indulge in The Precision Atelier by Chef Himanshu Saini, a culinary journey designed to match the precision of Jaeger-LeCoultre clocks. Chef Saini's menu includes four “immersive” nibbles that highlight the complexity and refinement associated with Jaeger-LeCoultre's watchmaking skills.

Jordanian-Palestinian R&B singer Zeyne and Syrian actor Moatasem Al Nahar were among the esteemed guests at the private opening night celebration of The Precision Pioneer exhibition. The Maison also displayed at the opening its historic timepieces and archive materials, and the star models from Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024. A new limited-edition timepiece, Master Grande Tradition Calibre 948, with a green enamel dial, was also launched. The watch is a uniquely artistic expression of the world-time complication, uniting mechanical excellence with rare handcrafts, namely enamelling, guillochage, and lacquering. The Universal Tourbillon makes a complete tour of the dial in 24 hours, echoing the way the Earth spins on its axis and revolves around the Sun.

A Journey through Time and Precision

The Precision Pioneer, created by Jaeger-LeCoultre as part of its objective to broaden the cultural conversation around fine watchmaking, delves deep into the art and science of precision in fine watchmaking. Visitors are asked to go on a search for perfection, divided into four chapters: the palladium hairspring, the first multi-axis tourbillon, the anti-magnetic cage, and the Duometre concept. Visitors to the Story of Precision will enjoy learning about Jaeger-LeCoultre's rich legacy, workmanship, and pioneering spirit.

A viewing area within the exhibition is dedicated to the 180 skills developed within Jaeger-LeCoultre's completely integrated Manufacture, highlighting the fundamental aspects of the art and craft of watchmaking that are especially relevant to the theme of accuracy. “In the Making” is a collection of short films that shows viewers the behind-the-scenes activities of a certain craft: design, fabrication, finishing, assembly, and embellishment.

Visitors can also see live demonstrations of two crucial skills: perlage and movement assembly. To provide a more in-depth understanding of watchmaking, The Precision Pioneer is hosting hands-on teaching seminars at the Atelier d'Antoine. Guests will be able to walk in or may book guided visits online at https://bit.ly/PrecisionPioneerDubaiVisit.

Discovery Workshop sessions at the Atelier d'Antoine are available to all visitors by appointment.
