Music to Your Wrist: Audemars Piguet Presents the New Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Watch with a Dash of Pop Culture

Celebration seems to be in full swing at Audemars Piguet. And why not? It’s a huge year for the marquee timepiece maker as the Royal Oak Offshore celebrates its 30th anniversary. Marking this occasion, the manufacturer has unveiled a new variant of its Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Music Edition (Ref. 77600CE.OO.A002CA.01) in black ceramic, limited to only 250 pieces. This launch saga seems to be a sequel to the unveiling of the five Royal Oak Offshore timepieces last year.

Pop culture has often been deployed to create a positive change in society, raising awareness about issues that concern people. Music, a big part of pop culture, has always brought people together. The new Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Music Edition comes in a 37 mm black ceramic case. The signature tapisserie dial flaunts its musical connect by replicating the VU meter, which is used to measure the volume and loudness of a track. The equaliser, which is the prime focus of the watch, is in 10 different colours. The black dial is completed by the AP monogram in polished white gold at 12 o’clock and by the 18 ct white gold hour markers, hour, minute and second hands with luminescent coating and black PVD.

The AP monogram has been revised and adapted to the proportions of the watch, replacing the Audemars Piguet signature.

Maintaining a monochromatic look, the 37 mm Royal Oak Offshore Music Edition also features a standard octagonal bezel with eight visible screws and a screw-locked crown, all crafted in black ceramic. The studs, reminiscent of the pattern on jack plugs, and the fader-inspired crown guards are crafted in titanium. This new model is powered by the latest-generation selfwinding hours, minutes and seconds movement, Calibre 5909. This movement is based on Calibre 5900 and was also present in last year’s models, offering a 60-hour power reserve.

The music edition watch is water resistant to 50 metres

Turning the watch over showcases the titanium and sapphire crystal caseback with the engraving of “Limited Edition of 250 Pieces”. The caseback displays iconic Haute Horlogerie decorations, such as Côtes de Genève, and an oscillating weight made of 22 ct pink gold, with a NAC coating. Finishing the watch is the black rubber strap with a mosaic pattern, with an interchangeable strap system, and a titanium AP pin buckle. There are three additional straps in turquoise, yellow, and green rubber, sporting a mosaic pattern.
