The New Aquaracer Professional 300 Date and GMT Variants Get Redesigned Dials, Cases, and Movements

TAG Heuer's Aquaracer collection is a line of luxury sports watches that are designed for both professional divers and everyday wearers. The collection features a variety of horological creations, including classic three-hand watches and chronographs. The design of an Aquaracer often includes unidirectional rotating bezels, luminescent markers, and screw-down crowns to enhance functionality under water. In fact, the Aquaracer range, which was unveiled in 2004, has now become a staple of TAG Heuer's collections. This year, TAG Heuer has expanded and improved the range with the new Aquaracer Professional 300 Date and Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT models, powered by new proprietary COSC-certified movements and showcasing enticing new dial designs.

Chronometers are precision timekeeping gadgets that measure time with high accuracy; they are commonly employed in marine navigation, scientific research, and other fields where accurate timekeeping is required. The term "chronometer" originally referred to marine chronometers, which sailors used to establish longitude by celestial navigation. Official organisations such as the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) typically test and certify the accuracy of chronometers.

Coming back to the watches, both the Aquaracer Professional 300 Date and the Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT are fitted with 42 mm stainless steel cases. Each has a screw-down crown at 3 o’clock, and a unidirectional, dodecagonal bezel (for the date) and a bidirectional one (for the GMT) that matches the dial colour, while its ceramic insert is engraved with a 60-minute scale. The dials of the new models are now textured with a wavy pattern instead of straight grooves and have updated minute tracks.

Two options are offered for the Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT: a blue dial with a blue-black bezel and a green dial with a green-black insert. The Aquaracer Professional 300 Date comes in three colours: black, blue, and green. The black dial has a light blue seconds hand; the blue dial has an orange seconds hand; and the green dial has a lime green central hand, all coated with white Super-LumiNova®. The GMT hand matches the respective dial colour and has a lacquered finish.

The use of luminous material ensures excellent visibility in all settings. The sapphire crystal has a twofold anti-reflective coating and a loupe to magnify the date window at 3 o’clock. Rhodium plating with white Super-LumiNova® can be found on the dotted and octagonal hour markers, and hour and minute hands.

Powering the Aquaracer Professional 300 Date is Calibre TH31-00, while the Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT is run by Calibre TH31-03; both COSC-certified movements get an 80-power reserve. The casebacks of both the collections are closed and a diving helmet is engraved on each. These new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Date and GMT variants are fitted either with stainless-steel 3-link bracelets or rubber straps, each secured by a double-safety folding clasp. All watches come with a 300-metre water resistance.
