The New Breguet Type XX Chronograph Comes in a Rose Gold Case

After releasing Type XX Chronographe 2067 (Ref. 2067ST/92/3WU) last year, Breguet has now unveiled another Type XX variant. The new chronograph (Ref. 2067RK/Y9/9WU) has a rose gold case. The Type XX and Type XXII chronographs, originally designed in the 1950s for the French Naval Air Arm, are now featured in modern civilian iterations. They have a sporty style and a strong personality that attract wearers seeking genuine, exclusive, and high-tech sports timepieces. They also boast a self-winding feature and a flyback capability that make them perfect for in-flight use.

The new Breguet Type XX Chronograph is housed in a 42 mm rose gold case, with lugs, two pushers, and a crown. The pusher at 2 o’clock starts and stops the chronograph function, while the 4 o'clock one resets the chronograph and restarts it immediately. The straight-line crown can be set in three different positions, namely (i) neutral, winding, (ii) date-setting, and (iii) time-setting.

The graduated bidirectional rotating bezel, covered with a white luminescent coating, is fluted; it features a blue ceramic ring and a gold 12-hour scale. While the 2023 novelties had black dials, the new version features a sunburst blue dial. The 15-minute counter is located at 3 o'clock, the 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock, and the running seconds at 9 o'clock. The Arabic numerals and the syringe-shaped hour, minute, and second hands are crafted from gold, and covered with a white luminescent coating. The subdials are recessed with a snailed pattern; the date window appears at 4:30.

Powering the watch is the in-house calibre 728, an automatic, integrated chronograph with a flyback function. This movement has a column wheel and a vertical clutch. The power reserve spans 60 hours and beats at a 5-hz frequency. In addition to the sunburst motif, snailing, chamfering, circular graining, and other visible decorations on the components, the column wheel has been provided with a black treatment, combining contrast with tribological improvement.

The sapphire crystal caseback reveals not only the details of the movement but also its oscillating weight. The blackened gold oscillating weight is shaped like an aircraft wing and engraved with the Breguet logo. The watch is finished on a set of two interchangeable straps: one in alligator leather and the other in NATO fabric. Each has its own 18 ct gold pin buckle.
