Tissot Launches the New PR100 Tour de France and PR100 La Vuelta a España References

Pain, passion, and glory are indeed the central elements in the world of sports. The interplay between these powerful emotions creates a solid narrative in sports. The journey of overcoming obstacles (pain) through sheer determination and love for the game (passion), and ultimately achieving success and recognition (glory) is a story that resonates universally. This narrative is what makes sports an inspirational aspect of human culture. Needless to say, watches are inextricably linked with sports and watchmakers contribute a great deal to this journey of pain, passion, and glory by playing the role of timekeepers.

When it comes to Tissot, the watchmaker has been associated with a range of cycling races and has launched remarkable pieces from time to time to commemorate such events. Continuing this sporting legacy, the brand has just unveiled two new PR100 timepieces dedicated to the Tour de France (Ref. T150.417.11.051.00) and La Vuelta a España, a multistage bicycle race that is mainly hosted in Spain (Ref. T150.417.11.051.010). Along with these, it has revealed regular-edition chronographs available in new colours, namely Ice Blue (Ref. T150.417.11.351.00), Green (Ref. T150.417.11.091.00), and Blue (Ref. T150.417.11.041.00).

Grand Tours

Grand Tours, often referred to in the context of professional road cycling, are multi-stage races that are considered the pinnacle of the sport. Winning any of the Grand Tours is a prestigious achievement in professional cycling. The Tour de France (to be held this year between 29 June and 21 July) is the most prestigious of all; it is organised primarily in France but sometimes passes through neighbouring countries as well. La Vuelta a España (to be held this year between 17 August and 8 September) is known for its participants negotiating hilly and mountainous terrains in often unpredictable weather conditions.

The two new timepieces dedicated to these races come in 40 mm stainless steel cases, along with lugs, chronograph pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock, and a crown at 3 o’clock. Also common to both novelties is the asphalt-grained black dial. The Tour de France edition gets a second hand in yellow while it's in red for La Vuelta; both are shaped like a bicycle. The chronograph hands for the 30-minute counter at 10 o’clock, the 12-hour counter at 2 o’clock, and the seconds counter at 6 o’clock are similarly coloured to complement the second hand. Both timepieces also have a black disc for the date window at 4:30. The needle-shaped hour, minute hands are coated with SuperLumiNova®.

Both are powered by G10.212, a chronograph quartz movement. Turning the watches over showcases the closed stainless steel casebacks, with the engraving of the logos of Tour de France and La Vuelta on respective editions. The watches are finished on three-row metal bracelets, each with a butterfly buckle. There is also a secondary bi-material black strap that uses the texture of bicycle handlebar grips and features colours that correspond to the specific colours of the Tour de France or La Vuelta.

Tissot has also showcased three new PR100 chronographs with the same dimensions as the novelties mentioned above, but they are available in different colours ― Ice Blue, Blue, and Green ― with sunray finishing. The chronograph counters include the 30-minute counter at 10 o’clock, the 12-hour counter at 2 o’clock, and the seconds counter at 6 o’clock, matching the respective dial colour with a white background and black numeral date window at 4:30. These models, sporting closed stainless steel casebacks and three-row interchangeable bracelets, are also powered by G10.212.
