Tour de Force: Norqain Releases Wild ONE TORTOUR Limited Edition Watch

Over the years, cycling has emerged as one of the most popular sports in the world, courtesy of Tour De France. Now, every country on every continent is organising its own cycling sports gala. There is no doubt that this sport tests the mental and physical abilities of cyclists at all conceivable levels. With just 13 days to go for the TORTOUR ultracycling race, Norqain has launched a new variant of the Wild One, namely Wild ONE TORTOUR Limited Edition; it's a 15-piece collection.

The TORTOUR is the largest multi-day, non-stop ultracycling event in the world. The race, which starts and ends in Zurich, covers 1000 km and has to be completed in just two days – day and night, solo or in a team. Norqain is the official timekeeper of the gruelling race. The best thing about the new Norqain Wild ONE TORTOUR Limited Edition watch, dedicated to the race, is that despite its complex construction, the timepiece weighs just 84 grams.

The 42 mm watch’s case and lugs have been crafted from a Black NORTEQ cage with a sandblasted titanium container. Both sides of the watch have white rubber shock absorbers. There is a screw-down crown, overmoulded with black rubber. The Norqain logo sits at 3 o’clock while a black NORTEQ Norqain plate is found on the left side of the case. The watch features a complex black dial, with a three-level, laser-cut, mandala-like pattern, and diamond-cut flat skeleton hour markers with rhodium plating.

The timepiece also gets diamond-cut faceted hour and minute hands with black plating. Both the hour markers and the hands are filled with white X1 Super-LumiNova. Because the brand is the race's official timekeeper, there is a red Super-LumiNova spot at 3 o’clock. The watch is powered by the Manufacture Calibre NN20/1 by Kenissi, Contrôle officiel suisse des Chronomètres (the institute responsible for certifying the accuracy and precision of Swiss watches), chronometer-certified Swiss-made automatic mechanical movement, boasting a 70-hour power reserve.

Turning the watch over showcases the flat sapphire crystal-on-top caseback, decorated with the red TORTOUR logo and the engraving of “LIMITED EDITION ONE OF 15”. The watch, water-resistant for up to 200 metres, comes with the options of two integrated animal cruelty-free rubber straps with a Milanese pattern finish — one is all-black and the other is in white, with a black trim. Also, once the wearer joins the NORQAINER Community, the warranty can be extended to five (4+1) years.
