Vacheron Constantin’s Latest Addition to the Overseas Collection Is a Celebration of Pink Gold
The latest addition to Vacheron Constantin’s Overseas collection, this new self-winding 35 mm model (Ref. 4605V/200R-B968) comes entirely draped in pink gold. The release of this elegant, sporty-chic timepiece also introduces artist Zaria Forman as the newest face of the brand’s “One of Not Many” campaign. The tone-on-tone style, paired with the warm overtones of pink gold, harmoniously complements the radiant dial whose glow is enhanced by the transparent lacquer and the sunburst satin-brushed finish. The 90 diamonds add a spot of sparkle to the timepiece, the six-sided bezel evokes the Maltese cross, and the slim silhouette adds a touch of understated elegance to the wearer’s wrist.
Just like the rest of the Overseas collection, this new self-winding model is available with an interchangeable bracelet and buckle system that adds to its versatility and allows it to be worn every day as well as for special evenings out. In addition to its pink gold bracelet, the new Overseas comes with two additional straps — the white calf leather strap makes it ideal for a casual day out while the white rubber strap lends a sportier appeal to the watch.
The brand’s “One of Not Many” campaign has, since 2018, brought together personalities that embody the values that stay true to the spirit of Vacheron Constantin. Names that have been part of the campaign so far include musician Benjamin Clementine, designer Ora Ito, photographer and explorer Cory Richards and Haute Couture designer Yiqing Yin. And now, artist Zaria Forman joins the Maison’s circle of talents.
An explorer by heart, Forman — who has been travelling the world for over 15 years — documents changing landscapes by collecting images and memories that she later reproduces in pastel on large-format paper, based in her New York studio. She has exhibited her work in museums and galleries around the world. To elaborate on her creative process, during her expeditions, Forman takes thousands of photos and videos of landscapes in transition. Back in her studio, she combines these images with the memory of her experience on the ground to create strikingly beautiful large-scale compositions. Through a method of smudging soft pastel pigments on paper, she brings to life the intricate details of landscapes, such as a snow-dusted glacier, blue-tinged reflections of ice in water, and foam-crested waves.
Forman’s art isn’t aided by any tools; she uses only her fingertips or the palm of her hand, employing a creative approach that’s both meditative and sensitive. On the campaign, Forman says, “I was amazed by the craftspeople who ply their trade within the Manufacture, by their passion and vocation, and, above all, their handcrafted work, which reminds me of my own: modelling with my fingertips; enjoying a tactile and sensual relationship with matter in a process of creation and transmission; making a personal imprint on time and giving it a voice. The landscapes I love and depict in my work illustrate the passage of time, and its impact on the world and on humankind."
The timepiece is powered by Calibre 1088/1, a high-precision self-winding in-house movement that offers a power reserve of 40 hours and functions at a frequency of 4Hz. Every detail on the open caseback has been meticulously crafted: the rear bridges are adorned with Côtes de Genève and the rotor comes sculpted in gold, flaunting a compass rose that evokes themes of travel and exploration that also align with Forman’s work as an artist and explorer.
