Avengers Assemble: Breitling Reveals an Updated Avenger Series

Breitling's famed Avenger collection comprises robust and versatile timepieces that are designed for professionals and adventurers. The watches in this collection are also known for their durability, precision, and functionality, and are built to withstand tough conditions. In recent times, we have seen several Breitling collections receiving major updates and in the process becoming more refined and mature in terms of design. It only seemed like a matter of time before we would see a new generation of the Avenger.

As its newest release for 2023, Breitling has given the entire Avenger collection a major makeover; the new line-up consists of different references that are available in the form of chronographs, GMT watches, and standard time-and-date models. Introduced in the early 2000s, the Avenger collection is a relatively new range when compared with the Navitimer and the Chronomat. One can say that the Avenger is a bit of a modern assemblage of everything that makes Breitling what it is today. The latest iterations of the updated Avenger collection exemplify Breitling’s commitment to innovation and style while catering to the demands of the skies.

AVENGER B01 CHRONOGRAPH 44 NIGHT MISSION

Following in the footsteps of their stainless steel cousins, the new timepieces come in 44 mm black ceramic cases and have lugs with 60-minute, unidirectional, and ratcheted bezels. The crown, the two chronograph pushers, and the buckle of each watch in this category are crafted from solid titanium though. There are two dial options: a two-tone yellow dial with black counters and a monochromatic all-black dial. Both versions come with Arabic numerals with Super-LumiNova and white 60-minute tracks. The dial of the all-black model is made of carbon fibre. The black counters include a 12-hour subdial at 6 o’clock, a 60-second subdial at 9 o’clock, and a 30-second subdial at 3 o’clock.

These models are powered by Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 that provides approximately 70 hours of power reserve. Each comes with a five-year-warranty, apart from being a COSC-certified chronometer. Turning each watch over showcases the sapphire caseback with a stainless steel oscillating weight. The watches are finished on dial colour-matching military leather straps with titanium folding pin buckles.

AVENGER AUTOMATIC GMT 44

Each 44 mm Avenger Automatic GMT variant, designed for both pilots and frequent flyers, features a red GMT hand for Zulu time on a 24-hour bezel. Each Avenger Automatic is also housed in a 44 mm steel case and has lugs and a screw-locked crown with two gaskets at 3 o’clock. The models in this category get two dial options of blue and black; there’s a 24-hour scale on the outer periphery of each dial, which gets sword-shaped hour and minute hands, a date window at 3 o’clock, and a red-tipped central second hand.

Each model is powered by Breitling Manufacture Caliber 32 that provides approximately 42 hours of power reserve and comes with a two-year-warranty, besides being a COSC-certified chronometer. Turning the watches over showcases the closed pentadecagon casebacks in stainless steel. The watches are finished on dial colour-matching military leather straps with folding pin buckles or on stainless steel bracelets with folding clasps.

AVENGER AUTOMATIC 42

The 42 mm Avenger Automatic collection features a steel case, lugs and a screw-locked crown with two gaskets at 3 o’clock, in addition to a 60-minute, unidirectional, and ratcheted bezel. There are three dial options in black, naval blue and camo-green, each with sword-shaped hour and minute hands, and a date window at 3 o’clock with a white background and black numeral. All three watches get a black chapter ring with a 60-minute track on the outer periphery of each dial.

Powering the watches is the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 17, delivering up to 38 hours of power reserve with a two-year warranty. Turning the watches over showcases the closed pentadecagon casebacks in stainless steel. The watches are finished on dial colour-matching military leather straps with folding pin buckles or on stainless steel bracelets with folding clasps.

AVENGER B01 CHRONOGRAPH 44

The new timepieces in this category come in 44 mm stainless steel cases and have lugs with 60-minute, unidirectional, and ratcheted bezels. The crew-locked crown with two gaskets at 3 o’clock and the two chronograph pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock are crafted from stainless steel. There are four dial options: black, blue, green, or sand-coloured with black contrasting chronograph counters. The black counters include a 12-hour subdial at 6 o’clock, a 60-second subdial at  9 o’clock, and a 30-second subdial at 3 o’clock.

All watches come with applied hour markers with Super-LumiNova and black 60-minute tracks on the outer periphery of the dials. There are sword-shaped hour, minute hands and a red-tipped central second hand on each watch. These models are powered by Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 that provides approximately 70 hours of power; each comes with a five-year-warranty, besides being a COSC-certified chronometer. Turning each watch over showcases the sapphire caseback with a stainless steel oscillating weight. The watches are finished on dial colour-matching military leather straps with titanium folding pin buckles.

The latest Breitling Avenger series watches are water-resistant for up to 300 metres.
