Get Ready to be Bedazzled as Jacob & Co Unveils Super-Luxe Double Tourbillon Billionaire Watch

Introduced in 2015, Jacob & Co’s Billionaire collection is known to be flamboyant, extravagant and state-of-the-art. And by unveiling only 18 pieces of the Billionaire Double Tourbillon (Ref. BL140.30.BD.AA.A30BD), the luxury timepiece maker has now done what it's normally feted for — incorporating a couple of tourbillons into its most popular diamond-studded watch. Double tourbillons have often been associated with the luxury timepiece maker’s collaboration with Bugatti wherein the said complication represents the turbo and the superchargers.

Billionaire Double Tourbillon is a new take on the original Jacob & Co. Billionaire concept.

Doubly fascinating and with double bragging rights, the double tourbillon first saw the light of day in Jacob & Co’s Twin Turbo Furious watch, launched in 2018. The new Billionaire Double Tourbillon comes in a 54 mm, 18 ct white gold case. As mentioned earlier, it is a series of 18 pieces in white gold, set with emerald-cut white diamonds. A total of 749 gems covers the dial, the case, the bracelet and the clasp of this extraordinary addition to the Billionaire collection. The case itself is made of 76 emerald-cut white diamonds and the crown gets a one-carat, rose-cut diamond at 3 o’clock.

With the proper tools and care, the diamond and gold element can be taken off the case.

This is the first watch from Jacob & Co with a full set of 168 baguette-cut diamonds that is carefully placed using a ‘brick wall’ pattern, wherein two large, circular openings are carved in the precious arrangement, thus making way for tourbillon carriages. The limited-edition watch consists of Art Deco bridges while the movement has a pair of barrels, each connected to a tourbillon at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock. The 18 ct white gold dial consists of rhodium-plated, skeleton hands with white SuperLumiNova tips. Turning the watch over reveals the sapphire crystal skeleton caseback with the ‘Billionaire’ engraving and the individual watch number, out of 18.

Powering the watch is the in-house manual winding Caliber JCAM50 with a 72-hour power reserve. This watch is perfectly curved from front and back, testifying to the fine artistry involved. This is also the first watch from the brand to have a detachable bracelet, fully set with emerald-cut diamonds, that lends the model a monochromatic look. What’s more, the watch gets an 18 ct white gold and blue alligator leather strap with an 18 ct white gold deployment buckle. The watch weighs 355 grams and offers  30-metre water resistance.
