High Horology Leaves Its Mark as the Mumbai Chapter of the 2026 GPHG Exhibition Closes

The 2026 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) World Tour commenced in Mumbai, India, with Ethos Limited, bringing together the world of contemporary watchmaking and India’s growing community of collectors, connoisseurs and watch enthusiasts. Hosted at The St. Regis Mumbai from September 28 to October 1, the exhibition presented 78 watches nominated by the GPHG Academy. The exhibition showcased the craftsmanship, creativity and technical ingenuity of more than 50 exceptional brands.

Mumbai’s selection as the opening stop of the 2026 GPHG World Tour reflects the growing significance of India within the global watchmaking landscape. The return of the GPHG to India, following its 2022 showcase in New Delhi, marks a continued dialogue between the international watchmaking community and an increasingly engaged Indian audience.

For Ethos, the exhibition represents an extension of its longstanding role in creating greater access to and appreciation for fine watchmaking in India

With curated watch tours and immersive watchmaking classes offering a deeper understanding of the artistry, innovation and craftsmanship behind contemporary haute horlogerie, the exhibition presents both seasoned collectors and those newer to fine watchmaking an opportunity to engage directly with the watches and the stories, techniques and expertise behind them.

The response from the watch community reinforces the depth of appreciation for contemporary watchmaking in India. Beyond presenting exceptional timepieces, the exhibition gave collectors, enthusiasts and newcomers an opportunity to engage with the craft, creativity and technical mastery that define fine watchmaking. As a member of the GPHG Jury this year, it has also been a privilege to see this extraordinary level of watchmaking from a closer perspective, and to bring that experience back to the Indian community.”

Yashovardhan Saboo, Founder and Chairman, Ethos Limited, added: “We are truly delighted and proud to partner with the GPHG in bringing the 2026 exhibition of nominated timepieces to Mumbai. India has emerged as one of the world’s most exciting and fast-growing markets for fine mechanical watches, with a passionate and rapidly growing community of collectors and enthusiasts. This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to bring people closer to the remarkable creativity, craftsmanship and savoir-faire behind fine watchmaking, and to share the fascination and joy that mechanical watches bring – not only as treasured collectibles, but as objects to be experienced, worn and enjoyed.”

Raymond Loretan, President of the GPHG Foundation

Raymond Loretan, President of the GPHG Foundation, stressed: “With its millennia-old cultural heritage and unique relationship with the art of timekeeping, India is playing an increasingly significant role on the global watchmaking scene. Kicking off our 2026 tour in Mumbai holds obvious significance. Together with Ethos Watches, we are continuing the GPHG’s mission: to showcase the richness of contemporary watchmaking, to share and celebrate its culture, as well as to build bridges between skills, sensibilities and passionate enthusiasts from around the world.”

The Mumbai exhibition forms the first chapter of the GPHG’s 2026 World Tour, which continues with exhibitions in Bangkok and Geneva before the prize-winning timepieces travel to London. The nominated timepieces remain in contention for the GPHG’s prizes, including the prestigious “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix, with the 26th GPHG Awards Ceremony scheduled to take place in Geneva on 7 November 2026.
