Urwerk Releases UR-100VMagic T, Sequel to Ultraviolet 2022 variant

Founded in 1997, Urkwerk is a relatively young brand when compared with the stalwarts in the industry. Armed with the philosophy of designing and crafting haute horlogerie timepieces, blending tradition with futuristic vision, the Swiss timepiece maker has just revealed UR-100V Magic T, a sequel to the 2022 Ultraviolet DLC case model.

The new 41 mm sanded and shortblasted titanium watch comes in a monochromatic grey colour construction and features the signature Urwerk satellite display. The watch has a space-time complication, tracking Earth’s travel through space. After reaching the 60th minute, the minute hand disappears, reappearing on the 20-minute track, which is located at 10 o’clock, representing the distance of 555 km travelled by Earth around its own axis in 20 minutes, if an individual was standing at the Equator. At the end of an hour, the next orbital display starts off at zero.

The watch has two special counters — as mentioned earlier, one displays the distance travelled by Earth around its own axis in 20 minutes (555km) while the second special counter shows the distance travelled by Earth around the sun in the same 20 minutes. At 2 o’clock lies ‘Earth’s revolution around the sun in 20 minutes’ — to be precise, at a speed of 35,740 km per 20 minutes.

Lastly, the movement of the watch is a wandering clock system on a rotating wheel with a minute scale covering a semi-circle below the dial — it is as though you are spotting a crooked smile! You can see the crown at 12 o'clock controlling the whole movement. The hour and minute hands are in Super-LumiNova.

Powering the story is the in-house, self-winding UR 12.02 movement with  48 hours of power reserve. The satellite hours are made of beryllium-bronze with Geneva crosses. Governed by a Windfänger airscrew, the movement is attached to a bidirectional rotor, which keeps the rotor from reaching high speeds and protects it from wear and tear, if the watch is worn on a daily basis. Maintaining the intriguing monochromatic look, the watch is finished on a titanium bracelet with 32 sanded links.
