Watch that Game on Your Wrist as Hublot Releases the New Big Bang e Gen3 UEFA Champions League Watch
The 2023/24 season of Champions League has begun, much to the delight of football fans the world over. Formed in 1955 (rebranded in 1992, it was earlier known as European Cup), the tournament brings together under one umbrella all European clubs that are members of UEFA and those clubs that finish in the top four positions of their strongest domestic leagues. To celebrate the 2023/24 season, Hublot has unveiled its new Big Bang e Gen3 UEFA Champions League (Ref. 450.EX.1100.RX.UCL23) timepiece, limited to only 200 pieces.
The Champions League finale is no less than a grand theatrical event where the winning team not only proves to be the best in its domestic league but is also crowned the European club champion. This year’s final will be held at Wembley Stadium, London. Hublot has been associated with the Champions League since 2016, when it became the Official Timekeeper for both men's and women’s Champions League. The highlight of the European football club calendar returns to the London venue for a record eighth time and for the third time in the UEFA Champions League era, following the 2011 and 2013 finals. The stadium has a seating capacity of 90,000 and is often called the ‘Home of Football’.
The latest Hublot Big Bang e Gen3 timepiece features a variety of details that are dedicated to the UEFA Champions League. The watch is presented in a 44 mm micro-blasted blue ceramic case. Through the dial, wearers can automatically enter into “match mode” once a match begins. A countdown will start 15 minutes before kick-off, providing information on the line-ups.
During the course of the match, you will be able to keep track of half-times, additional time, goals scored (with the official adidas match ball animation) mentioning the relevant player’s name, yellow and red cards, and goal attempts. The watch follows the entire match, right to the final score. If any action has been missed, the wearer can play back any of the key moments by using the “replay” mode and scrolling with the crown.
The timepiece includes sensors like HRM (heart rate monitor), accelerometer, gyroscope, LLOB (low latency off body), ALS (ambient light sensor), microphone, speaker, and DC motor (vibration). There is an In-cell AMOLED, AUO 1.39’’ screen with a resolution of 454x454 pixels, 327 dpi. What’s more, supported features may vary depending on the platform. The watch is finished on a black-and-blue-lined rubber strap with a black composite deployant buckle clasp. There is an additional black-lined rubber strap.
