5 Striking Luxury Watches That Make For Perfect Father’s Day Gifts

Come Sunday (June 18), the entire world will be celebrating Father’s Day. The day is all about honouring fatherhood and paternal bonds that nurture and protect us. A special day certainly merits a special gift for your superhero. And if your father is a watch enthusiast, then gifting him any of the following luxury timepieces can truly make his day.

Here are the best watches for Father’s Day:

TAG Heuer Monaco Skeleton Edition

TAG Heuer launched its new Monaco Grand Prix editions this year. There are three new variants with blue sandblasted dials (Ref. CBL2182.FT6235), black sandblasted dials (Ref. CBL2183.FT6236), and black sandblasted dials with turquoise lacquered counters (Ref. CBL2184.FT6236).

The 39 mm watches, including their bezels, crowns and chronograph pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock, have been crafted from sandblasted titanium. Powering the watches is the Calibre Heuer 02 that offers a power reserve of 80 hours. The variants are finished on either embossed blue calfskin and rubber straps or on embossed black calfskin and rubber straps with sandblasted titanium grade 2 folding clasps, featuring double safety push buttons.

Rolex 1908

In 1908, Rolex officially got its name and launched the Perpetual line-up. The Perpetual 1908 has a vintage and classic aesthetic with a part domed, part fluted bezel. The watch comes in 18 ct yellow or white gold, has a white or a black dial and features a time-only configuration.

The simple yet elegant dial gets elongated hour and minute hands (shaped like a two-edged sword), crafted from the same material as that of the case, and a seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. The 1908 model is equipped with Calibre 7140, unveiled this year, and has a power reserve of approximately 66 hours. The watch is finished on a black leather strap or a matte brown strap.

Arnold & Son Double Tourbillon

The Double Tourbillon that comes with a blue aventurine glass (Ref. 1DTAW.Z02A.C183W) is, basically, two watches crafted into one. Home time and local time are displayed vertically on two separate dials, crafted in white opal. The dual tourbillons intersect at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock. The dial at 12 o'clock with Roman numerals can be used to display local time while the dial at 6 o’clock with Arabic numerals can be set to remote time.

The 43.5 mm 18 ct white gold case features two crowns at 2 o'clock and 7 o’clock to adjust the independent time zones and wind the movements. The watch is powered by an in-house, manual-winding Calibre A&S8513 with 90 hours of power reserve. The watch is finished on a blue alligator leather strap with purple alligator leather lining.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Hybris Artistica

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Hybris Artistica Calibre 179 is a combination of technical prowess and artistic craftsmanship. It comes in a 51 mm pink gold case (Ref. Q39424E1). The Calibre 179 features the fourth evolution of the multi-axis tourbillon, developed specifically for the Reverso. This Duoface movement, shaped to fit the iconic rectangular Reverso case, showcases a different time zone on each dial.

The flying gyrotourbillon in an ultra-light titanium cage appears to be floating in the space between the front and the back dials of the Reverso, with no apparent means of support. Reversing the watch will showcase the 24-hour indicator for the second time zone. The watch is powered by an in-house manual winding Calibre 179 with 40 hours of power reserve. Finishing the watch is a dark blue alligator leather strap.

Grand Seiko White Birch

Inspired By Japan’s white birch forests, Grand Seiko’s Ref. SBGH005 features the latest high-beat movement, Caliber 9SA5. The White Birch timepiece comes in a 40 mm stainless steel case.  The watch has brushed, zaratsu polished surfaces, hairline finishing and lugs that seem to be integrated into the bracelet. The dial gets a metallic silver tone colour with bar-shaped applied hour markers and faceted and bevelled hands that are sharp on the edges.

There is a black numeral date window at 3 o’clock. The new in-house automatic movement with a manual winding capacity gets a new Dual Impulse Escapement; the movement  offers 80 hours of power reserve. The watch has a three-fold stainless steel clasp with a push-button release.
