Anatomically Cool: Rado’s Summer Trio Turns Up the Heat

When the days stretch longer and the sun hangs heavy in the sky, summer transforms the world into a vibrant stage where colour, energy, and moods collide in the most electric way. It’s the season of sun-soaked adventures, spontaneous road trips, and evenings that linger with the taste of something fresh and tangy (let's think of iced lemonade, to begin with). Our style naturally follows suit: heavier layers get swapped for light fabrics and muted palettes make way for bold, juicy pops of colour that speak of fun. In keeping with this season of playfulness, Rado has just unveiled a trio of new Summer Anatom watches in lemon-yellow (Ref. R10201259), lime-green (Ref. R10201319), and grapefruit red (Ref. R102014090). These watches blur the line between retro-futurism and beachside cool.

The Rado Anatom collection, first launched in 1983, marked a bold and innovative chapter in the brand’s history, showcasing the timepiece maker's pioneering spirit in watch design and materials technology. Emerging at a time when the watch industry was navigating the shift from traditional mechanical timepieces to more modern and experimental aesthetics, the Anatom stood out with its avant-garde approach. The collection was characterised by its distinctive, ergonomic case shapes and a strong emphasis on lightweight comfort; hence the name ‘Anatom’, referring to anatomy and the watch’s design philosophy centred on the wearer’s comfort and fit.

The latest Anatom editions are unmistakably Rado. The case is 32.5 mm wide, 46.3 mm long, and 11.3mm thick, and has a polished black high-tech ceramic bezel. It also has a circular, bevelled sapphire crystal that is metallised in black and treated with an anti-reflective coating on the interior. The case's midsection consists of sandblasted stainless steel coated in black PVD, which provides a matte contrast to the polished bezel. The construction is completed with a stainless steel display case rear. A black high-tech ceramic crown with a laser-engraved anchor logo sits at 3 o'clock.

Each model's dial features a gradient effect that transitions from dark on the edges to summer-ish colours in the centre. The lemon-yellow edition’s dial transitions from black to yellow, the lime-green model’s watch face shifts from black to lime green, and the red version moves from black to grapefruit red. Each dial features rhodium-coloured applied hour markers coated with white Super-LumiNova for enhanced nighttime visibility. The moving anchor emblem, a Rado trademark, spins beneath the 12 o'clock mark on a black background while a white-printed Rado logo and ‘Automatic’ designation further identify the display, which also includes a nicely integrated date window at 6 o'clock with a white print on a black disc.

Powering these colourful models is the automatic Rado calibre R766 with an improved magnetic field resistance due to its Nivachron hairspring; it delivers a 72-hour power reserve. Each version of the summer-inspired Anatom is paired with an FKM rubber strap in the same vibrant colour as the dial’s base tone — yellow, green, or red. A brushed stainless steel folding clasp with a polished black high-tech ceramic cover and polished stainless steel pushers secure the strap.
