Exclusive: Cartier Announces Tilda Swinton as Its Latest Ambassador

Cartier has announced the appointment of Scottish actor Tilda Swinton as its latest ambassador with a new creative project dedicated to wild fauna creations. Known for her performances on both stage and screen, she has received various accolades, including an Academy Award and two BAFTAs, in addition to nominations for five Actor Awards and four Golden Globe Awards. In 2020, The New York Times ranked her as one of the greatest actors of the 21st century. Swinton has received various honours throughout her career, including a special tribute by the Museum of Modern Art in 2013, the British Film Institute Fellowship and the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in 2020, and the Honorary Golden Bear in 2025. 

The multi‑award‑winning performer shares an innate affinity with the Maison’s iconic wildlife motifs, a hallmark of its creative repertoire. What’s more, Swinton’s instantly recognisable voice is a perfect fit for the new series of playful short films inspired by Cartier fauna. Each film celebrates an artisan and their traditional craft, from gold lacquer and marquetry to mosaic and paper bas-reliefs. These handcrafted universes provide a theatrical backdrop for Cartier’s jewelled animals and their encounters with the emblematic Panther. Through Swinton’s narration, a poetic story unfolds, inviting audiences into a world shaped by imagination, savoir-faire and creation. 

Sharing her thoughts on the partnership, Swinton says, “We celebrate here the exceptional beauty of these rare techniques, and the dedication of the artisans involved. They have created the perfect imaginary world to showcase Cartier’s savoir-faire and how it comes to life in precious wild fauna creations. I am very proud to become a Cartier ambassador and to lend my voice to this shared creative adventure.” 

In this first campaign as an ambassador of the Maison, Swinton also appears in a series of portraits, wearing a selection of Cartier’s wild fauna creations, paired with signature collections.
