From Koi Fish to Sapphire, the Richard Mille Blueprint of Anant Ambani’s Collection

Some collectors merely accumulate. Anant Ambani curates, and the selection bears an unmistakable hand.
The early indicators were distinct. At 25, he was photographed wearing an 18-karat yellow gold Richard Mille Koi Fish Tourbillon, valued at nearly Rs 10 crore. A Patek Philippe Nautilus Travel Time, lavishly set with emeralds and accessible only to VVIP clientele, soon followed, alongside iterations of Richard Mille’s Rafael Nadal editions.
By 2024, the instinct had reached its zenith. A sapphire-cased Richard Mille RM 56-02 Tourbillon, reported at roughly Rs 45 crore, made its appearance during the Jamnagar pre-wedding festivities. A rose gold Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon graced his pheras, while the Richard Mille RM 52-05 Pharrell Williams accompanied his wedding day. Cementing the scale of this curation, limited-edition Audemars Piguet timepieces, valued at approximately Rs 2 crore each, were reportedly presented to select guests.
Indian media estimates place the total collection near Rs 200 crore, an unconfirmed valuation, yet a compelling one. Ultimately, the underlying pattern is far more revealing than the aggregate sum: a preference for intricate mechanics, cases carved entirely from sapphire and micro-production runs, with Richard Mille and Patek Philippe anchoring the core.
The Five Standout Watches:
December 2025: Richard Mille RM 056 Sapphire Tourbillon
On 16 December, Lionel Messi's India tour reached Vantara, the wildlife rescue and conservation centre in Jamnagar that Anant founded. Photographs showed him in a black shirt and denim, with the evening's real finish on his wrist: the RM 056 Sapphire Tourbillon. Its case is machined from transparent sapphire, which leaves the movement suspended in clear view. Coverage described the model as a run of five and valued Anant's example at about $5 million, roughly Rs 45.59 crore. Some outlets call it a unique piece, so references vary between reports. The same watch was reportedly on his wrist when he accepted an animal welfare award.
Indian outlets also reported that Anant gave Messi a Richard Mille RM 003-V2 GMT Tourbillon Asia Edition, after the footballer, who had arrived without a watch, was seen wearing one mid-visit. No confirmation has surfaced, so it remains a rumour. What is documented is the setting: sapphire and Vantara, in one frame.

January 2026: Jacob & Co. Opera Vantara Green Camo
On 21 January, Jacob & Co. presented a one-of-one watch as a tribute to Vantara, and here the cause stops being the backdrop and becomes the dial. At its centre sits a hand-painted figurine of Anant in a blue floral shirt, surrounded by sculpted miniatures of a lion and a Bengal tiger on a green camouflage field. The white gold case carries 397 gemstones, among them demantoid garnets, tsavorites, green sapphires and white diamonds. The brand describes the figure as a symbol of stewardship and responsibility. Jacob & Co. has not disclosed a price; reports suggest about $1.5 million.

Spring 2026: Jacob & Co. Opera Godfather Baguette “Shiva”
Around the same weeks, Jacob & Co. shared a picture of Anant wearing a custom take on its Opera Godfather Baguette, a model that launched only in April at about $1.2 million. The film’s Don Corleone gives way to a Shiva figurine, which rotates inside a flying triple-axis tourbillon, while “Om” detailing and a 120-note mechanism that plays the Godfather melody on demand complete the dial. The 18-karat rose gold case carries more than 300 baguette-cut diamonds. Indian outlets put it at over Rs 10 crore or around Rs 12 crore, while one foreign report says $2 million. A figure at the dial’s centre, once again, is the point. The brand has not confirmed a price, so every figure here is an estimate.

March 2026: Richard Mille RM 47 Samurai Tourbillon in Blue Sapphire
On 28 March, at a private birthday celebration with his mother and wife, Anant was reported to be wearing a blue sapphire interpretation of the RM 47 Samurai Tourbillon, valued at about $10 million. The standard RM 47, developed with Fernando Alonso and limited to 75 pieces, presents a gold samurai in a dark case. The sapphire version trades that shadow for light: the case is clear and blue, and the mechanism seems to float. It is the sapphire thread at its boldest, and a reminder that Richard Mille's narrative watches suit him as well as its engineering ones.

Spring 2026: Richard Mille RM 57-02 Black Baguette Falcon
Reports from late April, repeated through May, placed Anant in the RM 57-02 Black Baguette Falcon, estimated at about $4.2 million, though one outlet quoted $4.5 million. This is the exception. The sapphire here is jewellery rather than structure: baguette-cut black stones set into a white gold case, with a hand-carved, diamond-set falcon perched over a skeletonised tourbillon. It suggests he rotates through the collection instead of repeating a single formula. A falcon, as it happens, is also a creature Vantara's mission would recognise.

Strip away the valuations and one question remains: does a collector at this level wear his watches or write with them? Consider the record. A clear case beside rescued animals in December. A dial that seats a lion, a tiger and Anant's own likeness in January. A case with a melody of its own. Blue sapphire at a family birthday in March. A falcon in black stones this spring. Any single sighting is a fact about one wrist. five in a row, bent around one cause, begin to read as a sentence. The reading is ours, not his, but it is hard to unsee. All prices are media estimates, and the March and spring sightings rest on thin reporting.
