From Track to Wrist: Presenting Tudor’s Most Audacious Black Bay Yet

As one of the most electrifying and glamorous stops on the Formula One (F1) calendar, Miami Grand Prix is rapidly carving out a name for itself. Since its debut, the race has captured global attention with a unique blend of high-octane action and South Beach flair, offering a spectacle that rivals even the most iconic Grands Prix. Horological releases are injecting a fresh dose of pizzazz into the racing event as well.

Oscar Piastri won the 2025 Miami Grand Prix chapter, showcasing McLaren's revival and the changing characteristics of Formula One. Amid Piastri’s triumph, a new F1-inspired watch — Tudor Black Bay Chrono ‘Carbon 25’ (Ref. 79377KN), housed in a carbon fibre case — was launched as well. The 2025-piece limited-edition iteration’s redesigned lightweight case, column wheel, Manufacture calibre, and appearance are inspired by the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls Formula One Team.

Speaking of the watch material, carbon fibre has evolved as a preferred material in the world of cutting-edge engineering and elite performance, connecting the seemingly dissimilar worlds of luxury timepieces and Formula One racing. Originally created for aerospace and motorsports, the horological material is lightweight, extremely strong, and visually appealing.

An essential component on the race track, the material serves as the backbone of modern F1 cars, from the monocoque chassis to the aerodynamic wings, allowing teams to shave off every gramme while preserving structural integrity at speeds surpassing 300 km/h. That same idea has spread to the wrist, with high-end watchmakers now embracing carbon fibre not only for its durability, but also for the statement it makes. The material has a modern touch and robustness that appeal to collectors who value both performance and style.

This 42 mm Tudor Black Bay Chrono watch gets a fixed bezel with a tachymetric scale in the same material. At 3 o'clock is a PVD-finished screw-down winding crown with the Tudor rose in relief; the PVD-finished titanium screw-down pushers are at 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock. The domed ‘racing white’ dial features aesthetic codes from the 2025 Visa Cash App Racing Bulls Formula One car, with a contrasting carbon fibre chronograph 45-minute counter at 3 o'clock and small seconds at 9 o'clock.

The model has the signature Snowflake hands outlined in black with Grade A Swiss Super-LumiNova® luminescent material, a red-arrowed chronograph central second hand, and a date window at 6 o'clock. What’s more, the model has eight round hour markers and an inverted triangle at 12 o'clock. Blue accents can be found on the logos and the minute track.

The COSC-certified Manufacture Chronograph Calibre MT5813, which powers the Black Bay Chrono model, has a 70-hour power reserve and a silicon balance spring. The rotor in tungsten is monobloc, openwork, and satin-brushed with sand-blasted details; its bridges and mainplate have alternate sand-blasted and polished surfaces with laser decorations. Turning the watch showcases the closed caseback in titanium with PVD finish, with the engraving of an F1 car viewed from the top and the individual watch number out of 2025. Finishing the watch is a hybrid leather-rubber strap with a “tyre pattern”. All in all, the watch perfectly captured the essence of F1 and the vibrant Miami atmosphere at the recently concluded event.
