TAG Heuer Hits Top Gear, Returns to Goodwood with a New Carrera Chronograph

All ye petrolheads, step on the gas, fasten your seatbelts, as TAG Heuer is set to make a triumphant return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will be held between the 10th and 13th of July in West Sussex. This year, it's more than just clocking the quickest laps, it's about reaffirming its pole position at the crossroads of motorsport and haute horlogerie. With a tradition profoundly linked with the roar of engines and the thrill of speed, TAG Heuer isn't just any watchmaker at Goodwood — it's the Official Timing Partner, and more crucially, the heartbeat behind the stopwatch that defines every split-second on the historic hill climb. Therefore, this comeback is more than just ceremonial; it's a powerful statement of intent. To commemorate all this, TAG Heuer has launched a brand-new edition of its renowned Carrera Chronograph: the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Festival of Speed (Ref. CBN2010-NS).

To be held at Goodwood House in West Sussex, the event's theme for 2025 is "The Winning Formula - Champions and Challengers". It’s a showcase to celebrate Formula 1's 75th anniversary, and TAG Heuer is now back as Formula 1's Official Timekeeper as well. Founded in 1993 by Charles Richmond, then Lord March and now the 11th Duke of Richmond, the Festival of Speed is centred on the hill climb, a timed competition encompassing 1.86 kilometres (1.16 miles) at an elevation of nearly 100 metres (300 feet), with an average gradient of close to 5%.

Along with the main hill climb event, there will be a Forest Rally Stage, and other automobile and motorcycle paddocks designed around different themes, such as supercars, race cars, and historic vehicles. The Central Feature exhibit on the lawn in front of Goodwood House is a major attraction during the festivities. A large-scale sculpture, typically embellished with classic vehicles from a brand commemorating a milestone for the festival's year, it has become an icon of the automotive annual calendar. Past instances include Porsche anniversaries, such as 75 years of competitive motorsport in 2023 and the 911's 50th anniversary in 2013.

To celebrate the return of TAG Heuer to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the special chronograph has been created, paying homage to the deep relationship between the two. The 42 mm watch gets a polished case, a crown at 3 o'clock, push buttons at 2 o'clock and 4 o’clock, and lugs, all in stainless steel; it has a rhodium-plated polished bezel as well. The green Clous de Paris dial in British Racing Green is inspired by the eponymous Goodwood Green and hobnail texture. The chronograph has a standard trifecta layout: a green ‘azurage’ minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock, a green ‘azurage minute chronograph counter at 9 o’clock, and a green Clous de Paris permanent second indicator at 6 o’clock with a date window. The rhodium-plated applied hour markers, and the hour and minute hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova®. Red accents can be found on the hour, minute subdials as well as on the lacquered central chronograph hand. Lastly, this novelty has a minute/seconds track on the outer periphery of the dial.

Powering the watch is an in-house Calibre TH20-00 with an 80-hour power reserve. Turning the watch showcases the steel screw-down sapphire caseback printed with Goodwood FoS logo and engraved with "XXX of 100" that will be initially offered to Members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club before going on general sale. Finishing the watch is a perforated brown calfskin leather with white stitching and a steel folding clasp with double safety push-buttons and the TAG Heuer logo.
